“You give me your shield of victory,
and your right hand sustains me;
you stoop down to make me great.”
Psalm 18:35 (NIV)
“Dad, I don’t know what I am going to do. Can you help me?” I sobbed into the phone.
My father has never been able to resist my tears, especially when I have expressed my need for him to help me. I have always known that it doesn’t matter what time of the day or night it is when I make my request for his aid, my father will find some way to see that I am taken care of. I could call him at three a.m. and he would leave everything to get to me if necessary.
How do we become simply irresistible to our heavenly Father? Listen to these words from Scripture:
I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God.
Bend down and listen as I pray. Psalm 17:6 (NLT)
INCLINE YOUR ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and distressed, needy and desiring.
Preserve my life, for I am godly and dedicated; O my God, save Your servant, for I trust in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, without fear or doubt].
Be merciful and gracious to me, O Lord, for to You do I cry all the day. Psalm 86:1-3 (Amplified Bible)
Let my prayer come before You and really enter into Your presence; incline Your ear to my cry!
Psalm 88:2 (Amplified Bible)
It is the enemy of our souls who tells us that prayers prayed from a broken and crushed heart that cries out for God’s help are ones that fall on deaf ears. Our God promises that He is close to the brokenhearted. A cry from a humble heart that recognizes how desperate it is for Him is one that He finds simply irresistible. He doesn’t look at the depth of our need and run from it; He runs to us and inclines His ear accompanied with salvation for our need in His mighty righteous right arm.

Thank you Shawn! I'm struggling right now with is running FROM God instead of TO Him. The challenges I'm facing are so small in comparison to those of others that I minimize them and think they are so trivial that they wouldn't matter to Him – I should be able to handle them on my own. That's where I get into trouble . . .

I just get frustrated when I feel like I AM crying out to God, but not hearing an answer.
Obviously, the problem is with me, not Him.
Got any sage advice on that one? I think you need to blog on that topic. (smile!)
