Have you ever wondered what on earth God is doing in your life when all seems dark around you? In our darkest moments, we can lose hope and despair of Jesus even being aware of what we are going through. We may think that He could not possibly allow anything good to come out of the chaos, confusion, and sorrow in which we find ourselves.
We have a few phrases we throw around (sometimes carelessly) when others around us are going through a dark time in life. How many of us have said to someone really hurting:
- God is doing something great.
- Just trust in the Lord.
- Have faith.
- God’s getting great glory from this difficult circumstance.
- Hang in there. It will get better.
While all of those phrases above might be meant as encouragement, when you and I are the ones sitting in the dark, clueless and scared as to what God is doing in our lives, these phrases can sting instead of comfort us.
How does God use our darkest moments to help us minister to others? How does He redeem the hurt and suffering we have been through, especially at the hands of someone we once trusted?
I hope you will join me for two minutes as we look at what God teaches us when all seems dark around us. This was a profound truth that I believe we all must wrestle with as we try to obey the Lord and forgive those who have hurt us deeply.

What has God taught you in the darkness? I would love to hear from you!
