You number and record my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle–are they not in Your book?
Psalm 56:8 (Amplified Bible)
Hey Girlfriends,
What are you facing today? Does whatever concern you today seem as though it will crush the life right out of you? Have you watched a dream shatter before your eyes? Are you remembering a loved one that is not here anymore and are realizing your soul is still crying over the void that beloved one has left? Does the impending winter cold send a shiver of dread up your spine? Has it been too long since you have felt the sunshine in your soul?
The worst lie we can possibly believe in the midst of our sorrow is that no one cares. We wrestle not with flesh and blood but with the evil one who wants to discourage, confuse, and crush us today. How do we escape his clutches? We praise our God today! We do what seems ludicrous to our brain and emotions: We say, “Thank You, Jesus, for what You are doing to show me that my hope is in You alone.” Let’s get a journal out and record any blessing we can possibly think of today. Nothing is too small. Breath in our lungs, a full refrigerator, little children who show us how much we have to work on being a servant to others, the desperation we feel over not knowing what tomorrow holds. How can we do this? Because we know Who holds the future! We have so very much to be thankful for. Instead of concentrating on what we do not have, let’s concentrate on what we do have. We are the apple of our heavenly Father’s eye. He knows exactly where we are and how to rescue us. And He cares.
Does Jesus Care?
Songwriters: Graeff, Frank E.; Hall, J. Lincoln Hall
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares!
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Thank You, Jesus, for bottling my tears and writing them down! Thank You for Your precious care for me.

Shawn, you're a blessing to me. I read your blog today (which I haven't read in a very long time) and I needed it. Thank you girlfriend!

Okay…your first paragraph…I am dealing with most of those all at once. And it does feel like drowning. And it makes me bawl all the way through my favorite powerful Christian songs that sing His praises from the roof tops. And I lift my hands in the air and praise Him through the Storm, even when I can't do anything but sob. Thank you for the reminder to praise despite what is going on in our lives…and that His HOPE will see us through.
