“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. There are days when I am sharply reminded of the reality that I am not in control. The temptation to worry can be almost overwhelming. It is at those times that I must make this short psalm the mindset that governs me:
Psalm 131 (Amplified Bible)
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
My heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in matters too great or in things too wonderful for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me [ceased from fretting].
O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever.
My three children have never greeted me in the morning with dark circles under their eyes from their lack of sleep from worrying whether their daddy and I can take care of them or not. How hurtful it would be if one of them said, “Mom, I didn’t get any sleep last night because I was so worried that you weren’t going to be able to feed me today. I don’t think I can fully trust you to make sure that my needs are met.”
Can you imagine how shocked and hurt I would be if those words came out of one of their mouths? I would be crushed. Yet, I have, with my actions, told my heavenly Father those very words. I have lost sleep over worrying about something out of my control. How about you? My beloved sisters, we know Who is on the throne of heaven today. Let’s leave our worries, cares, fears, and burdens with Him. He is more than able to take care of us. Let’s accept His gift of peace today in our lives and leave the problem that threatens to overwhelm us with our Almighty God. Our Abba (“Daddy” in Hebrew) knows all that you and I need. He is for us. He has the solution. He has got the situation well in the grip of His mighty hand.
Jesus, thank You that You know all of my needs–even the ones I am not yet aware of. Help me to trust You. That is my responsibility today. You have not given me a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). This is the truth I will hold on to even while I wait to see You rescue me from my problems. Help me to be like a weaned child with my own precious mother–never doubting for one minute in Your power or goodness to me.

The part that I always get stuck in is wondering if He’s going to let me fall and not meet those needs to teach me a lesson. That’s the part I worry about. I have no doubt that after the storm is over, that He will have placed my feet back on the rock. It’s the stormy part that I worry about.
You mean we’re not supposed to worry about that?!! ;o)
